Part-Time Campus Life Assistant – Byblos

The LAU Dean of Students’ Office is currently looking for a Part-time Campus Life Assistant, reporting to the Campus Activities Associate Manager. This position is based on the Byblos campus, with occasional commuting to the Beirut campus.

Role Summary

The Campus Life Assistant is responsible for organizing and following up with projects, student events and activities.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans and organizes projects, events, workshops and activities for the LAU student body and surrounding community
  • Works on projects that involve students
  • Follows up on events progress, logistics and necessary approvals and formalities
  • Supervises regular late evening and weekend activities
  • Attracts sponsors for events in coordination with the Development Office
  • Assists with planning and logistics of events and club activities
  • Works in and outside the office, depending on the project or event

Part-Time Development Writer

The Development Office has a vacancy for a Development Writer reporting to the Development Communications Manager. The position is based on Beirut Campus with occasional commuting to Byblos Campus.

Role Summary

The Development Writer supports the integrated communication plan of action for the Development Office that covers both internal and external communications of LAU’s fundraising campaigns, as well as advancement and development projects and initiatives.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Produces thank you letters to donors on a daily basis, and within 48 hours of the receipt of the donation to ensure timely communication to university benefactors
  • Suggests new thank you letter templates annually and when needed (ex: sponsorship, first-time donor, trip, outreach, naming facilities, and gift-in-kind thank you letters)
  • Supports the department’s news article, promotional, marketing, and brochure writing
  • Provides support on the department’s initiatives including the annual Contributors Report, annual fundraising gala dinner, annual fund programming, or any other project as requested by the Development Communications Manager
  • Supports the department’s digital and social media projects from a creative point of view, as well as editorially
  • Coordinates with, and provides regular progress updates to, the Development Communications Manager including weekly task updates, monthly reports of achievements, as well as one-to-one meetings when needed to discuss status of deliverables, problems faced, and identify future areas of interest to the department’s communication efforts
  • Assists in website maintenance, including but not limited to content and photos
  • Updates the department’s archive of donor news, photos, and research profiles

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communication, journalist, or relevant discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in English-language communications, in the areas of public relations, advertising, journalism or a relevant area
  • Demonstrated experience in writing quality English-language content
  • Ability to manage multiple projects that meet deadlines
  • Broad exposure and experience in communication is ideal, including social media, digital communication, SEO, content management systems, capturing photos and videos, video editing, web design and user experience, and graphic design
  • Experience using Adobe suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, and related programs is a major plus
  • Experience within academic institutions and/or fundraising is a plus

Role Summary

LAU’s Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World (IWSAW) is looking for a Project Manager to oversee the project “Coordination and Support for Civic Engagement Initiative (CEI) Issue Networks”, which is funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID).  This position is located on Beirut campus and is for a limited duration.

Role Summary

The Project Manager will liaise with speakers and trainers, will be responsible for all logistics in regards to the different workshops, roundtables, lectures, and trainings, and will be the focal point for all participating CSOs.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Organizes and prepares the different activities which also entails report writing and donor relations
  • Ensures that program activities operate in accordance with the framework outlined in the proposal
  • Ensures that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization
  • Ensures that program activities comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards
  • Develops forms and records to document program activities
  • Oversees the collection and maintenance of records on the clients of the program for statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization

Clinical Assistant Professor (Non-Tenure Track)

The Department of Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy at the Lebanese American University (LAU) invites applicants for a non-tenure track faculty position in critical care at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. The primary emphasis of this position is to provide interprofessional care to patients in the intensive care units and stroke center, and precept pharmacy students at the LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital (LAUMC-RH). Also expected are didactic teaching, clinical research, and service. The position is fully-funded by the LAU School of Pharmacy.
Start Date: Summer/Fall 2019

Responsibilities

  • Provide interprofessional collaborative patient care practice in the intensive care units (medical, surgical, neurology) at LAUMC-RH
  • Develop interprofessional collaborative patient care practice in the comprehensive stroke center at LAUMC-RH
  • Precept pharmacy students assigned to practice site at LAUMC-RH
  • Deliver didactic teaching based on program needs using active learning
  • Develop research and publish scholarly work
  • Provide service to the department, university and practice site
  • Contribute to the school’s and university’s interprofessional education program
  • Attend to the school’s program accreditation requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a recognized University
  • PGY1 residency from an ASHP-accredited program
  • PGY2 residency in critical care from an ASHP-accredited program
  • Board certification by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties
  • Interprofessional clinical practice experience in critical care/neurological intensive care in U.S. hospitals and health-systems

The LAU School of Pharmacy is located in LAU’s state-of-the-art Chagoury Health Science Center in Byblos, Lebanon. It enrolls around 460 students in its pre-pharmacy and pharmacy programs.
